Mark Rush Talks about wedding videography

As a well experienced wedding photographer, I have photographed weddings all over central Kentucky including Lexington, Nicholasville, Lancaster, Danville, and Georgetown. I have even traveled to Cincinnati to photograph weddings. I am also a very experienced videographer. However, I have never had the opportunity to film a wedding. A few months ago I was asked for the first time to film a wedding and I was immediately very excited for this chance. The run and gun video style I developed while filming for the TV series "Music Anywhere," seemed like it would translate well into producing a wedding highlight video. I used my experience as "Creative Director" of Shaker Steps and began to plan immediately. The biggest obstacle I had to face was audio during the ceremony. I found the solution in a small lapel mic placed on the officiants jacket. I practiced using the mic on my wife as she read to our son. It worked beautifully during the ceremony. Filming the wedding day itself proved to be much different than photographing a wedding. One major difference was that it was a much slower paced day. While slower, it proved to be more challenging. I had to be concerned with audio as well as lighting. Often times, it seemed as if I needed to be in more than one place at the same time. In the end, it proved well worth the effort. Please watch both the highlight video and ceremony below.
